Recently the former cricketer of Pakistan Basit Ali claimed that the bowlers of national team undermined the coaching efforts of former South African pacer, MorneMorkel during his brief stint with the side. After India’s dominating performance against Bangladesh in the first Test at Chennai Ali expressed his disappointment, where the Indian bowling unit, now under Morkel’s coaching, showed exceptional skill and strategy.
The recent struggles of team Pakistan and India’s success have brought the spotlight onto the teams’ respective bowling units. While Pakistan suffered a 0-2 Test series defeat against Bangladesh at home, India is coming off a 280-run victory over the same side. Ali didn’t mince words when addressing the attitude of Pakistani pacers.
Basit said on his YouTube channel, “The Pakistani bowlers consider themselves to be bigger than cricket. They thought that Morkel was nothing in front of us.”
Morkel, who parted ways with Pakistan following their T20 World Cup exit, has now joined the Indian coaching staff.
He further added, “We got to know the difference. This is the same Bangladesh played against Pakistan, where it seemed as if Pakistan were completely on the back foot. This is the same Bangladesh that whitewashed Pakistan. The difference is of mindset, thinking and class.”
