For a code of conduct breach against KKR in the IPL 2024, BCCI punishes Rishabh Pant and the entire DC team with a heavy fine

BCCI punished the captain of Delhi Capitals, Rishabh Pant, and the entire team after they were found guilty of maintaining a slow over rate for the second time in the IPL season 2024. In this season this was their second over-rate offense, which qualifies as an IPL Code of Conduct breach, came in Match 16 against the Kolkata Knight Riders in Vizag.

In the official release, BCCI said that the captain of Delhi Capitals, Rishabh Pant, has been fined because his team once again maintained a slow over rate during the IPL match against KKR at the Dr. YS Rajasekhara Reddy ACA-VDCA Cricket Stadium, Visakhapatnam, on April 3.

Pant had to pay the fine of ₹24 lakh, while the other members of the DC playing XI, including Impact Player AbishekPorel, were either fined ₹6 lakh or 25% of their match fees, whichever is lesser for them.

Because this is the second time Delhi Capitals has committed this offense under the IPL code of conduct relating to minimum over-rate offenses, Pant, who is the captain of the team, was fined INR 24 lakhs. All the players of the playing XI along with the impact player got fined either 6 lakhs or 25 percent of their match fees, whichever is lesser.”

At the same venue, DC maintained a slow over rate in their last match against the Chennai Super Kings, and Pant attracted a ₹12 lakh fine. There were fines for the individual players in DC.

Sunil Narine gave amazing batting performance with as he smashed 85 runs, while Angkrish Raghuvanshi scored 54 off 27 balls and impressed everyone with an brilliant knock of fifty on his batting debut in IPL as KKR posted an imposing 272 runs at the loss of 7 wickets, five runs short of the highest total in the history of the tournament.

Be it with the ball or the bat, it never looked like the capitals were in a match. They crumbled under the pressure of the huge total.

Captain Rishabh Pant scored his second consecutive half-century as he scored 55 runs, while Tristan Stubbs also hit a half-century, but it was in a lost cause as the Capitals folded for 166 in 17.2 overs to suffer their third defeat of the season.

In four matches, they have lost three and in the IPL 2024 points table, currently they are present on number 9 with one of the worst net run rates.

Pant at the post-match presentation ceremony said, Their bowlers were all over the place. But they just didn't turn up on the day, as it was one of those days."
