For breaching IPL Code of Conduct, Sam Curran Punished, Faf Du Plessis Fined Rs 12 Lakh

Captains of Punjab Kings and Royal Challengers Bengaluru Sam Curran and Faf du Plessis, have been fined heavily for their offences after their respective Indian Premier League 2024 matches on Sunday. Unlike their previous fixtures, RCB showcased a better performance with the bat and ball but unfortunately, they fell short of a victory by 1 run. Chasing 223, the Royal Challengers were bundled out for 221 in 20 overs.

As the visitors maintained a slow over-rate, skipper Faf du Plessis was fined Rs 12 lakh for the offence.

An IPL release stated that, “Faf du Plessis, Captain, Royal Challengers Bengaluru has been fined after his team maintained a slow over-rate during Match 36 of the TATA Indian Premier League 2024 against Kolkata Knight Riders at the Eden Gardens, Kolkata on April 21, 2024.”

“As it was his team’s first offence of the season under the IPL’s Code of Conduct relating to minimum over-rate offences, Rahul was fined INR 12 Lac,” it added.

“Sam Curran, the Punjab Kings captain, has been fined 50 percent of his match fees for breaching the IPL Code of Conduct during his team’s Tata Indian Premier League 2024 match against the Gujarat Titans at the PCA New International Cricket Stadium, Mullanpur on April 21,” the IPL release.
