For breaking the IPL Code of Conduct during their match against the Mumbai Indians at Eden Gardens, youngster Ramandeep Singh of the Kolkata Knight Riders was fined twenty percent of his match fees.
Under Article 2.20 of the IPL Code of Conduct, the 27-year-old committed a Level 1 offence, which he acknowledged and accepted the Match Referee’s punishment for. The match referee’s ruling is conclusive and legally enforceable for Level 1 violations of the Code of Conduct.
As per the IPL Code of Conduct, Article 2.20 encompasses any behaviour that deviates from the standard cricketing course, including but not limited to hitting or kicking wickets, as well as any intentional actions. e. intentionally, carelessly, or negligently (in any scenario, even if unintentional) causes harm to the windows, dressing room doors, boundary fences, advertising boards, mirrors, and other fixtures and fittings.
This offence can be committed, for instance, if a player, in a fit of rage, swings his or her bat forcefully and damages an advertising board. Another similar offence could lead to Ramandeep being suspended for a match.
