For CT 2025, ICC ambassador Shane Watson feels it’s “unfortunate” that Team India will not travel to Pakistan

Former Australian cricketer and ICC ambassador Shane Watson expressed disappointment over India’s decision not to travel to Pakistan for the upcoming ICC Champions Trophy, scheduled for February 2025. Watson highlighted the significance of the India-Pakistan rivalry, stating, “No cricket fan wants to miss that game. It is unfortunate that India isn’t travelling to Pakistan for the Champions Trophy.”

The International Cricket Council (ICC) confirmed in December 2024 that Pakistan would host the tournament, with matches also held in a neutral venue, Dubai. This decision follows ongoing diplomatic tensions between India and Pakistan, leading to India’s matches being relocated to the UAE. The tournament will run from February 19 to March 9, featuring eight teams divided into two groups.

India’s first match will be against Bangladesh on February 20, followed by a highly anticipated clash against Pakistan on February 23 in Dubai. Watson emphasized the excitement surrounding India-Pakistan encounters, noting that these games always carry significant stakes and are a highlight for fans worldwide. As cricket enthusiasts await the tournament, Watson’s comments reflect a shared sentiment about the missed opportunity for a thrilling showdown between these two cricketing giants.
