For ENG vs SL series former pacer of England Stuart Broad has revealed that Ben Stokes would join Brendon McCullum as the coach. The England skipper has been ruled out of the rest of England’s summer after suffering a hamstring injury during The Hundred. Broad revealed that Stokes had texted him saying he would be joining Baz as coach for the series.
While speaking Broad defended Stokes’ decision to play The Hundred, noting that a player couldn’t simply play the 1st Test against Sri Lanka directly after the last game against West Indies.
Broad said, “He’s already texted me saying he’s going to be the coach so I don’t know what Brendon McCullum is going to be doing.”
Broad said that despite Stokes spending less time in the middle during The Hundred, it allowed him to exercise his mental sharpness while playing alongside other great minds.
The former England pacer noted that Stokes hadn’t bowled for over a year now and has only batted. Broad noted that the series against Sri Lanka will also give an opportunity to find a better alternative for Ben Stokes.
