For home T20I series against India, South Africa announce squad
The upcoming four-game T20I series marks the first encounter between South Africa and India since the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024 final. KeshavMaharaj will spearhead the spin attack, while Marco Jansen and Gerald Coetzee enhance the pace options.
MihlaliMpongwana, a promising all-rounder, earns his maiden call-up after a standout performance in the CSA T20 Challenge, where he took 12 wickets at an average of 14.08. He is joined by uncapped all-rounder AndileSimelane, who was part of the squad that toured the UAE in September.
Notably, KagisoRabada has been rested for this series, and Lungi Ngidi was excluded as he focuses on preparing for the upcoming home Test series against Sri Lanka in November. Additionally, pacer LuthoSipamla has been added to the squad for the third and fourth T20Is, bringing with him 18 international wickets to date.
