For ICC Champions Trophy, Bangladesh squad announced; Najmul continues as captain

The Bangladesh Cricket Board announced its 15-member squad for the upcoming ICC Champions Trophy, set to take place in Pakistan and Dubai next month. Notably, veteran all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan has been excluded from the squad due to his ongoing suspension from bowling in both domestic and international cricket. Shakib last played for Bangladesh during the Test series against India in October.

The squad sees the inclusion of experienced players like Mushfiqur Rahim and Mahmudullah, while Litton Das has also been left out. Najmul Hossain Shanto will lead the team, with Rahim taking on wicketkeeping duties. Bangladesh has been placed in Group A alongside India, Pakistan, and New Zealand, beginning their campaign against India, last edition’s runner-up, on February 20 in Dubai.

The team aims to build on Its recent performances as it prepares for this prestigious tournament. The absence of Shakib and Litton raises questions about the team’s depth and strategy, but the inclusion of seasoned players like Rahim and Mahmudullah provides a solid foundation.
