For ICC Test Cricketer of 2024 award, Jasprit Bumrah, Joe Root among nominees

Jasprit Bumrah and Joe Root are among the four nominees for the ICC Men’s Test Cricketer of the Year award for 2024, alongside England’s Harry Brook and Sri Lanka’s Kamindu Mendis. Bumrah stands out as the frontrunner after an exceptional year, taking 71 wickets in 13 Tests, the highest of any bowler, with an impressive average of 14.92. His performance included a remarkable 30 wickets in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy against Australia.

Joe Root also had a stellar year, scoring 1,556 runs in 17 Tests, which included six centuries and five half-centuries. This marked his fifth instance of surpassing 1,000 Test runs in a calendar year. Root’s consistent performances solidified his position as one of England’s key players.
