KL Rahul has dismissed injury concerns and is set to play in the first Test of the India vs Australia series in Perth. The opener, who was hit on the elbow during an intra-squad match, sparked concerns after walking off the field. However, Rahul returned to full training on Sunday and confirmed he is feeling fit and ready. In a video posted by the BCCI on X, the Indian batter expressed his relief at being back in action and noted that arriving in Australia early helped him adjust to the conditions.
Rahul, alongside DhruvJurel, had been sent ahead of the main squad to participate in India A’s matches against Australia A, as part of preparations for the Border-Gavaskar Trophy. During a match simulation session, Rahul faced a barrage of short-pitched deliveries from the Indian bowlers. One delivery managed to get past his defense and hit his elbow, causing discomfort. While he initially continued, the pain eventually forced him off the field.
With five days left before the start of the Perth Test, Rahul’s recovery is on track, and he was seen facing fast deliveries from both Mohammed Siraj and JaspritBumrah during an intense training session, confirming his readiness for the series.
