For LA28 Olympics Australia Cricket Great Steve Smith keeps options open

The cricket great of Australia Steve Smith has kept his door open for his availability for LA28 Olympics. As far as the shortest format of the game is concerned, Smith isn’t a regular. But the now the veteran has claimed that he is keeping his options open for LA28 Olympics.

The LA28 Olympics will see cricket being included as one of the 5 new sports. However, the format of cricket will be T20Is. In the meantime, Steve Smith has now signed a three-year deal with Big Bash League side Sydney Sixers to continue his game time in the shortest format of the game.

Following the retirement of David Warner, there were considerable rumours whether Steve Smith too will hang his boots. But Smith has claimed that he has no intentions to retire anytime soon.

Smith said, “I could still be playing T20 cricket in four years, so you never know. It’s a format I could see myself playing for probably a lot longer than some of the others, particularly with a lot of the franchise stuff around the world. I’ve signed on here (at the Sixers) for three years, it’s only another year after that. It’d be cool to be part of an Olympics, definitely.”

He added, “I don’t have any retirementplans, I’m just enjoying playing at the moment. I’m pretty relaxed and I’m looking forward to this summer. I think India’s going to be a great challenge. They’re a very good side. I think we’re probably the two best Test teams in the world at the moment.”
