Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) received a significant boost ahead of their upcoming match against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) as fast bowler Avesh Khan has been cleared for fitness by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI). Avesh had been sidelined due to discomfort in his right knee, which he sustained during the Ranji Trophy 2024-25 season. After undergoing rehabilitation at the BCCI’s Center of Excellence since early January, he received clearance on March 24, 2025.
With LSG set to face SRH on March 27, it remains uncertain whether Avesh will join the squad directly or meet them in Hyderabad. Initially, it was reported that he could miss up to three matches, but this latest development has changed that outlook. Avesh was among four injured pacers for LSG, alongside Mayank Yadav, Mohsin Khan, and Akash Deep. Mohsin has already been ruled out for the season, while Mayank is expected to miss the first seven matches due to a toe injury.
LSG head coach Justin Langer expressed optimism about Akash Deep’s nearing fitness, indicating that the team is gradually recovering from its injury woes. The return of Avesh Khan is a welcome relief as LSG aims to bounce back after their opening match loss to Delhi Capitals.
