For T20 World Cup final victory Rohit Sharma reveals Rishabh Pant's smart tactics

During an appearance on “The Great Indian Kapil Show,” Rohit Sharma revealed a clever tactic employed by Rishabh Pant that contributed to India’s thrilling victory over South Africa in the T20 World Cup final. With South Africa needing 30 runs off the last 30 balls and in a strong position, Pant feigned a knee injury, prompting a brief delay in play. This interruption disrupted the rhythm of the South African batters, particularly Heinrich Klaasen, who had been scoring rapidly.

Rohit explained that this strategic pause allowed him time to set the field and discuss plans with his bowlers. Following the resumption, Hardik Pandya dismissed Klaasen with his very first delivery, shifting the momentum back to India.

Rohit acknowledged that while Pant’s move wasn’t the sole reason for their win, it played a significant role in breaking South Africa’s flow. India ultimately secured the match by seven runs, marking their second T20 World Cup title. Rohit also mentioned that the team was willing to risk fines for sledding as they aimed for victory at all costs.
