For the 15th time in 2024 Mumbai have won the Irani Trophy

Mumbai clinched the Irani Trophy for the 15th time, defeating the Rest of India (RoI) in a commanding performance at the Ekana Cricket Stadium in Lucknow. After establishing a substantial first-innings lead of 121 runs, Mumbai continued to dominate, ultimately winning by an innings and 38 runs.

Prithvi Shaw’s impressive 76 runs and Sarfaraz Khan’s historic double century earlier in the match were pivotal to Mumbai’s success. The spinners played a crucial role, taking 11 of the 12 RoI wickets that fell on the final day. Mumbai’s bowlers, led by Shams Mulani and TanushKotian, effectively dismantled the RoI batting lineup, restricting them to just 416 runs in their first innings.

With this victory, Mumbai solidified its status as the most successful team in Irani Cup history, showcasing their dominance in Indian domestic cricket. The triumph not only adds another trophy to their cabinet but also highlights their strong performance following their Ranji Trophy win last season.
