On Sunday in the Lanka Premier League, the Jaffna Kings clinched their fourth title as they beat the Galle Marvels by nine wickets in the final of the tournament. RileeRossouw played a match-winning 106-run knock to ensure that the Kings clinched the cup in what was a high-octane battle.
The captain of Jaffna Asalanka gave credit to Rossouw for the epic performance of the team in the final and noted that it was all about professional and individual performance for the team.
After batting first in the LPL 2024 final, the Marvels had set a 185-run target. An 82-run knock from BhanukaRajapaksa and a handy 47-run cameo from Tim Seifert guided the team to a commendable 184-run total at the end of 20 overs.
In reply, the Jaffna Kings made the run-chase look easy, with KusalMendis and Rossouw sealing the deal with their match-winning knocks. After losing opener PathumNissanka for a golden duck, the duo steadied the ship for the side and fought their way towards victory.
The South African remained unbeaten on 106 off just 53 deliveries, with his knock studded seven sixes and nine fours. His partner, Mendis, had eight boundaries and two sixes to his name.
