For the second Test against South Africa in Cape Town, India, call-up Avesh Khan

On Friday, December 29, the Board of Control for Cricket in India announced right-arm pacer Avesh Khan as a replacement for Mohammad Shami ahead of the second Test against South Africa. Shami is currently recovering from an ankle injury that he sustained before the series.
Khan, who impressed in the recently concluded ODI series against the Proteas with six scalps, got his chance after India lost the opening Test by an innings and 32 runs at the SuperSport Park in Centurion.
Avesh Khan is uncapped at the Test level but has represented the Indian cricket team in eight ODIs and 19 T20Is thus far. At the first-class level, Avesh has 149 wickets to his name at an average of 22.65.
In the first Test, the Indian batters got the side to a respectable total in the first innings, thanks to a brilliant century from KL Rahul. Thereafter, the fast bowlers troubled the batters of South Africa early on to give the visiting team a chance to get on top of the opposition.
