For the World Cup final, Gujarat campuses are brimming with excitement; Cricket jerseys sell like hot cakes.

The famous No. 18 jersey of Virat Kohli dangles from tree branches outside the University of Gujarat as a vendor stacks up his wares to make some last-minute sales of cricket merchandise on Saturday, a day ahead of the high-profile match between India and five-time champion Australia.

A grocery delivery app is also hard-selling cricket jerseys “with free deliveries on orders” via WhatsApp. “Jersey 10 minutes ma aave che, tame match par focus” goes the pitch in Gujarati.

According to vendors, the sales of jerseys have seen a two-fold rise ahead of the final as against the IPL T20 matches. Along with the jerseys of Indian captain Rohit Sharma, star batsman Virat Kohli, and fiery pacers Mohammed Siraj and Mohammed Shami, the jerseys of Australian players Glenn Maxwell, David Warner, and Steve Smith can also be spotted on the streets of Ahmedabad. There was demand for the jerseys of MS Dhoni and Sachin Tendulkar.
