India all-rounder Shreyanka Patil has been nominated for the ICC Women’s Emerging Cricketer of the Year award for 2024, alongside Annerie Dercksen (South Africa), Saskia Horley (Scotland), and Freya Sargent (Ireland). Patil made her international debut in December 2023 and has since been a standout performer for India across white-ball formats, consistently delivering in high-pressure situations.
Primarily recognized for her bowling, Patil has also shown potential as a lower-order batter. Her impressive performances in the Women’s T20 Asia Cup and the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup have solidified her place in the team. Notably, during a crucial World Cup match against Pakistan, she took 2 wickets for just 14 runs, helping restrict Pakistan to 105 runs and keeping India’s campaign alive.
Annerie Dercksen has also made waves, transitioning from academia to cricket, playing a pivotal role in South Africa’s journey to the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup final in 2024. Saskia Horley made history by becoming Scotland’s first ODI centurion, while Freya Sargent has emerged as a key player for Ireland at just 18 years old.
The ICC announced the nominees on December 28, with winners to be determined by fan voting and a panel of international cricket media. Patil’s nomination highlights her exceptional talent and contributions to Indian cricket as she continues to rise on the international stage
