Despite Jos Buttler’s return from a calf injury, Phil Salt will continue to keep wicket for England in their upcoming T20I series against West Indies. Buttler missed the previous limited-overs series against Australia, where England managed to level the T20Is and narrowly lost the ODIs. During Buttler’s absence, Salt and Harry Brook took on leadership roles in the T20Is and ODIs, respectively.
Ahead of the third ODI between England and West Indies in Barbados, Salt expressed his enthusiasm for wicketkeeping, despite not having kept much for England recently. Salt said, “It’s not something I’ve done a lot for England recently. But I enjoy keeping. I feel like that’s where I offer most to the side.”
Salt has kept wicket in 13 of his 59 matches for England across formats and has been entrusted with the role in the current ODI series against the West Indies, showcasing his versatility and value to the team.
