Star batsman Virat Kohli, who can also be called the synonym for Royal Challengers Bangalore, has completed his 15 years with the franchise. He started his IPL career with its inauguration in 2008. Since then, he has seen many ups and downs with the teams and emerged as the most powerful player in the franchise. He led the RCB from 2013 to 2021 before the current captain, Faf du Plessis, took over in 2022. In the past 15 seasons, he has helped RCB claim historic wins on a number of occasions with his powerful batting skills and wonderful leadership skills.
To celebrate his 15 years with RCB, Star Sports did a special segment where professional cricketers spoke about their favourite name associated with the franchise: Kohli. Former all-rounder of India Sanjay Bangar recalled a match of RCB back in 2016 against Punjab Kings where he played with stitches on his finger and still scored a century in only 50 balls.
Bangar said, "I remember a match, probably that was against Kings XI Punjab, where he played with stitches in his hand and got a 100 in a 15-over match. "That is phenomenal."
RCB will open their campaign against the Mumbai Indians on Sunday at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium.
