Sourav Ganguly has identified ViratKohli as India’s main strength for the upcoming Champions Trophy, especially in the high-stakes match against Pakistan on February 23 in Dubai. Ganguly emphasized that both Kohli and Rohit Sharma will play crucial roles for India. He noted Kohli’s excellent form and stressed the importance of the entire team performing well.
Ganguly dismissed concerns about the threat from Pakistan’s pace bowlers, stating that India doesn’t need to make special preparations for Shaheen Afridi and Naseem Shah. He pointed out that the Indian team has faced top-quality fast-bowling attacks worldwide and is confident in their ability to handle the Pakistani pacers effectively.
Both Kohli and Sharma showed promising form in the ODI series against England, with Sharma scoring a century and Kohli contributing a half-century. All eyes will be on these two veterans as India aims to secure their third Champions Trophy title, having last won it in 2013. Kohli enters the tournament needing 271 runs to become the first player to score 800 runs in the competition.
