Gerhard Erasmus of Namibia named ICC Men’s Associate Cricketer of the Year

Namibia’s Gerhard Erasmus has been named the ICC Men’s Associate Cricketer of the Year 2024, recognizing his outstanding performances over the past year. The 29-year-old skipper showcased remarkable consistency in both One Day Internationals (ODIs) and T20 Internationals (T20Is), scoring eight half-centuries and contributing significantly in the middle order.

Erasmus began the year strongly, taking five wickets against Nepal and continued to be a key player throughout 2024. His performance at the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup was particularly notable, where he scored a half-century against Scotland and played a crucial role in his team’s only victory against Oman.

In ODIs, Erasmus amassed 364 runs at an average of 33.09 and took 18 wickets, while in T20Is, he scored 363 runs at an average of 33.00 with 18 wickets as well. His ability to perform under pressure was evident during a tough match against Australia, where he was one of the few players to reach double figures.

Erasmus’s all-round capability was on full display when he top-scored with a quickfire 52 against Scotland, further solidifying his status as a leading figure in Namibian cricket.
