Gujarat Titans defeat Punjab Kings by 3 wickets in IPL 2024
The trio of spinners of Gujarat Kings Noor Ahmed, Rashid Khan, and R Sai Kishore – strangled Punjab Kings, restricting them to a below-par total of 142 runs. Left-arm wrist spinner Noor Ahmed claimed 2 wickets for 20 runs, while Rashid Khan took 1 wicket for 15 runs, and Sai Kishore impressed with figures of 4 wickets for 33 runs. Among Punjab’s batsmen, opener Prabhsimran Singh and Harpreet Brar managed to contribute significantly with 35 runs off 21 balls and 29 off 12 balls respectively.
In reply, GT started off with a bang but somewhere in the middle, Punjab began dominating the game. It looked like an easy chase with batters like Shubman Gill, Sai Sudharshan and David Miller in the lineup. But Punjab bowlers did turn the tables and brought the team back in the game. Liam Livingstone’s 2-19 and Harshal Patel’s 3-15 helped Punjab put some pressure on the GT batters. They did drag the match till last over with a sub-par total, which is commendable. However, GT won the match by 3 wickets with 5 balls to spare.
