Gujarat Titans (GT) pacer KagisoRabada has returned to South Africa due to personal reasons, as confirmed by the franchise on Thursday. The South African speedster, who holds the record for the fastest 100 IPL wickets, did not feature in GT’s recent eight-wicket victory over Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium. Rabada’s absence comes as a setback for GT, with his availability for Upcoming matches uncertain.
Rabada had a lukewarm start to IPL 2025, taking two wickets in two matches but conceding 83 runs combined against Punjab Kings and Mumbai Indians. Despite his underwhelming performances this season, Rabada remains a key figure in GT’s bowling attack, which also includes Mohammed Siraj, Prasidh Krishna, and Ishant Sharma. The franchise acquired Rabada for ₹10.75 crore during the IPL 2025 mega auction in Jeddah, highlighting his value as one of the best all-format pacers globally.
In Rabada’s absence, all-rounder Arshad Khan stepped up against RCB, delivering an impactful spell that included dismissing ViratKohli early. GT managed to secure a convincing win and will aim to maintain their momentum in their upcoming matches against Sunrisers Hyderabad on April 6 and Rajasthan Royals. However, Rabada’s unavailability leaves GT with limited overseas options, including Glenn Phillips and Gerald Coetzee, yet to feature this season.
