The Indian women's cricket team has departed for the UAE to compete in the ICC Women's T20 World Cup 2024, scheduled from October 3 to 20. Captained by Harmanpreet Kaur, the team includes key players like SmritiMandhana and ShafaliVerma, aiming to improve on their semi-final finish from last year. India is placed in Group A alongside Australia, New Zealand, Pakistan, and Sri Lanka.

The Women in Blue are aiming to break their string of close finishes and capture their first-ever T20 World Cup title with the squad in good form and confidence running high,. India has historically fallen short in major tournaments, most recently at the 2023 edition in South Africa, where they lost in the semi-finals to eventual champions Australia. Reflecting on these past disappointments, Harmanpreet Kaur expressed optimism, emphasizing that the team has prepared thoroughly this time around.

The tournament will feature 10 teams competing in 23 matches across Dubai and Sharjah. The squad’s focus is on strong performances to secure a place in the knockout stages.
