In ICC 2024 T20 WC Opener USA defeat Canada by 7 Wickets
The men cricket team of the United States started their ICC T20 World Cup campaign on a positive note by defeating Canada by 7 wickets in the Grand Prairie Stadium, Texas, tournament opener.
Powered by the strong performances from openers Aaron Jones, who scored 94 runs off 40 balls, and AndriesGous, who scored 65 runs off 46 balls, the USA chased down the target of 194 runs easily as they scored 197 at the loss of 3 wickets in 17.4 overs.
For Canada, Navneet Dhaliwal scored 61 runs off 44 balls, while Nicholas Kirtonscored 51 runs off 31 balls. Shreyas Movva, 32 off 16, and Harmeet Singh, 27 off 4 as Canada posted 194/5 in their 20 overs.
However, the bowling attack of the Canadian cricket team had no answer against the aggressive batting lineup of the USA. Dillon Heyliger (19 off 3) and Kaleem Sana (34 off 4) struck some handy cameos in the chase.
Despite a good start, Canada was disappointed with their inability to defend their total. The thumping 7-wicket victory of the USA in the ICC T20 World Cup opener underscores their growing strength in cricket.
