In ICC Men’s Test Batting Rankings, Pant and Mitchell return to top 10
India's wicketkeeper Rishabh Pant and New Zealand all-rounder Daryl Mitchell have made significant strides in the ICC Men’s Test Batting Rankings following their performances in the recent Test series in Mumbai. Pant scored 60 and 64 in a challenging match, propelling him five places to sixth, just shy of his career-best fifth position from July 2022. Mitchell, who had dropped from third in September, advanced eight spots to seventh with scores of 82 and 21.
Will Young, named Player of the Series, jumped 29 places to 44th after scoring 71 and 51, achieving a career-best rating of 550 points. Glenn Phillips also improved his ranking, moving from 45th to 42nd.
Shubman Gill’s first innings score of 90 elevated him from 20th to 16th. However, YashasviJaiswal slipped to fourth, while former captain Virat Kohli fell out of the top 20 for the first time since December 2014. This shake-up reflects the competitive nature of the series and highlights the evolving landscape of Test cricket rankings as players vie for top positions.
