Indian opener Abhishek Sharma has made a remarkable ascent in the ICC Men's T20I Rankings, climbing 38 spots to secure the second position among batters. This significant leap follows his outstanding performance in the recent T20I series against England, where he scored a blistering 135 runs off just 54 balls in the fifth match, marking the highest individual score by an Indian in T20 internationals. His innings included 13 sixes, setting a record for the most sixes by an Indian batter in a T20I match and making him the leading run-scorer of the series with a total of 279 runs at an impressive average of 55.80 and a strike rate of 219.68.
Despite Abhishek's impressive rise, Australia’s Travis Head maintains the top spot in the rankings, with Abhishek trailing by only 26 rating points. Other Indian players also made notable advancements; Tilak Varma is now ranked third, while skipper Suryakumar Yadav has dropped to fifth place.
In bowling rankings, Indian spinner Varun Chakravarthy climbed to joint second after taking 14 wickets in the series, while Ravi Bishnoi also improved his position following his performance against England. The top bowler ranking has shifted back to West Indies' Akeal Hosein, who reclaimed his No.1 status.
