In IND vs AUS, Scott Boland speaks out on Nitish Kumar Reddy’s heroics

On Day 3 of the fourth Test against Australia at the Melbourne Cricket Ground, Nitish Kumar Reddy scored his maiden international century, a remarkable achievement that significantly contributed to India’s innings. The 21-year-old reached the milestone in 171 deliveries, hitting ten fours and one six, and became the first Indian to score a century while batting at number eight in Australia, surpassing Anil Kumble’s previous record of 87.

Reddy’s innings was crucial as he came to bat during a challenging phase for India, and he forged a vital partnership of 127 runs with Washington Sundar, who also scored a half-century. Their efforts helped India recover from a precarious position of 221 for 7, pushing the total to 358 for 9 at stumps. 

Scott Boland, representing Australia in the post-match press conference, acknowledged Reddy’s impressive performance, stating, “He’s playing really nicely, trying to take us on.” Boland expressed hope that Australia could secure an early wicket on Day 4 to regain momentum. He also addressed minor injury concerns regarding Mitchell Starc, assuring that the team was in good shape.

Reddy’s century not only showcased his talent but also highlighted his potential as a key player for India moving forward in the series.
