Yashasvi Jaiswal and Harshit Rana debuted in One-Day International (ODI) cricket for India in the first match against England at the Vidarbha Cricket Association (VCA) Stadium in Nagpur. Captain Rohit Sharma announced their inclusion in the starting eleven at the toss. England won the toss and elected to bat first.
Jaiswal received his ODI cap from Gautam Gambhir. Harshit Rana was handed his cap by Mohammed Shami. Both Jaiswal and Rana have previously represented India in Test and T20I formats. Jaiswal debuted in both formats during the tour to West Indies in 2023. Rana made his Test debut during the Border-Gavaskar Trophy and his T20I debut against England earlier in 2025.
Virat Kohli was ruled out of the match due to a knee injury. The three-match ODI series marks India’s first ODI series at home since the 2023 ODI World Cup.
