In match 67 of the Tata IPL 2024 on Friday, Indian Premier League franchise Lucknow Super Giants lost the toss and were asked to bat first by hosts Mumbai Indians. This is the last match of the season, and they would aim for a victory on their home turf. LSG had a slow start and lost two wickets inside the powerplay. It was the partnership between skipper KL Rahul and Nicholas Pooran that lifted LSG to a triple-digit score.
While Pooran smashed 75 runs, Rahul played a crucial knock of 55 runs. For MI, Piyush Chawla took 3 wickets while giving -29 runs, and NuwanThushara also took 3 wickets while giving 28 runs. Arjun Tendulkar, who came in as a as a replacement for Jasprit Bumrah, couldn’t take a wicket. In the end, LSG posted a total of 214/6 in 20 overs.
The Mumbai Indians started off on a solid note, as after the match resumed following a light drizzle, we saw Rohit Sharma in ‘Hitman’ mode. But the fall of wickets after the powerplay really hampered the chase. Despite the late surge by NamanDhir, who scored 62 runs in 28 balls, other batters couldn’t stay to support him. In the end, LSG won the match by 18 runs.
