During India’s match against Australia on November 23, Ruturaj Gaikwad, who is an Indian cricketer, made some unwanted history. India are currently hosting Australia in a five-match T20I bilateral series. The first match between the two cricket powerhouses at Visakhapatnam turned into a nail-biting thriller, with India narrowly taking the win.
However, it turned out to be a forgettable match for Ruturaj Gaikwad, as he became only the third Indian batter to be dismissed for a diamond duck in T20Is. Gaikwad had to depart from the cricket pitch after facing no balls against the Matthew Wade-led side on Thursday. The Indian youngster was unfortunately caught in a run-out affair by Nathan Ellis. This saw him join the likes of Jasprit Bumrah and Amit Mishra on this list.
Jasprit Bumrah was the first Indian player to be dismissed at a diamond duck in T20Is. It was back on February 9, 2016, when Bumrah had to leave the cricket pitch without facing any balls. It was the match against Sri Lanka at the Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium in Pune. Less than a year later, Amit Mishra was dismissed in a similar fashion against England. That match took place in January 2017 at the Vidarbha Cricket Association Stadium in Nagpur.
