In the IND vs. SA 1st Test, injured Temba Bavuma ignores commentators’ pleas and does not bat

The captain of team South Africa, Temba Bavuma, didn’t come out to bat on Day 3 of the IND vs. SA 1st Test in Centurion. Bavuma had suffered a hamstring injury on the opening day of the Boxing Day Test while chasing to stop the ball. However, with South Africa in a commanding position and Jansen nearing his maiden century, commentators opined that the South African opener should come to the crease to allow Jansen to reach the three-figure mark.
But the former players were left disappointed after Bavuma didn’t come to bat, and Jansen remained stranded on 84 with the dismissal of Nandre Burger.
Veteran batter Dean Elagr, who is playing the last series of his Test career, is leading the side in Bavuma’s absence. Meanwhile, Jasprit Bumrah picked up a four-wicket haul as India bowled out South Africa for 408, conceding a 163-run lead in the ongoing Boxing Day Test. Dean Elgar was the star for the hosts, with a brilliant 185.
