Former captain of Royal Challengers Bengaluru Virat Kohli made history by becoming the first batter to complete 8,000 runs in the Indian Premier League. The star player of RCB reached the milestone with his 29th run against Rajasthan in the eliminator of the 2024 Indian Premier League in Ahmedabad. It is also to be noted that no other batter has even 7,000 runs in the competition. Kohli, who is currently having his second-most prolific season in the league with over 700 runs following the famous 2016 season when he scored 973, has scored one century and five fifties in the 2024 season.
The batting form of Kohli is also one of the main reasons why RCB recovered from the abyss to qualify for the play-offs, and he is also the current Orange Cap holder.
He has scored eight centuries and 55 fifties in his IPL career. The former RCB captain had also broken another record in the last match against CSK, becoming the first IPL batter to reach 3000 runs at a venue across 17 editions.
