In the IPL 2024 match, Gujarat Titans beat Chennai Super Kings by 35 runs

On Friday at the Narendra Modi Stadium, defending champions Chennai Super Kings lost to Gujarat Titans in an exciting encounter. This was the do-or-die match for Gujarat, and they played like that. Suffering a poor run rate in the powerplay this season, the openers of the Gujarat Titans—Sai Sudharshan and skipper Shubman Gill—kept up the tempo and accelerated the run rate like there was no tomorrow. Both batters smashed brilliant centuries that guided GT to a commanding total of 231/3.
In response, CSK started off on a disastrous note. They lost two wickets in the first two overs of their chase. Only Daryl Mitchell and Moeen Ali provided some fightback. Their 4th wicket stand kept CSK in the hunt till Mohit Sharma’s twin attack jolted their chase. After that, CSK were never able to recover, despite some killer shots by RavindraJadeja, Shivam Dube, and MS Dhoni. Those six were too few and were not enough. In the last over, CSK needed 52 off six balls, and over 90,000 people in Narendra Modi Stadium knew the verdict. With this victory of 35 runs, GT are now at number 8 in the IPL points table and, in theory, alive in the competition.
