The women cricket team of Bangladesh defeated Malaysia by 114 runs in the 11th match of the ongoing T20 Women Asia Cup 2024 at RangiriDambulla International Stadium in Dambulla on Wednesday.
This was the second highest total of Bangladesh and his format, the highest being 255-2 against the Maldives during the 2019 SA Games in Pokhara, where both Joty and FarganaHoque had struck unbeaten hundreds.
After electing to bat first, MurshidaKhatun struck a career-best 80 off 59 balls, while skipper Nigar Sultana Joty made an unbeaten 62 off 37 balls, which helped the Bangladesh national women’s team post a colossal total of 191-2 against Malaysia.
Murshida’s innings featured 10 fours and a six, and she put up 65 runs with DilaraAkter (33) to set a solid platform for the Tigresses after they elected to bat first.
Joty then hammered Malaysian bowlers in the death overs and also completed her eighth WT20I fifty to help Bangladesh post the second highest total in this tournament.
India’s 201-5 against UAE in a Group A match is the highest total of the tournament.
