The batsman for Team India, KL Rahul, said that there is a big difference between batting as an opener and batting in the middle order. Rahul said that while beginning the game, the player has the opportunity to create the game there, as while batting in the middle order, one has to adjust himself according to the situation. KL Rahul smashed the image, meaning half a century, in the first match of the three-match ODI series against Australia.
In an interview, KL Rahul said that he has batted as an opener throughout his life. He said, “At the top of the order, you are creating the game yourself. Even when you are chasing that target, you know that you have to score this much. You go in with zero baggage, as there is no pressure of a falling wicket or required run rate. but when you bat in the middle order, then you have a situation in front of yourself, and you have to act accordingly.”
He further added, “That is the only major difference. I have been lucky, as I have plenty of games to understand and adapt to in the middle order. Betting CAT numbers 4 and 5 is not much different, but yes, there is a lot of difference between opening and batting in the middle order.”
