The pace sensation of India, Mohammed Shami, is likely to miss the entire five-match Test series against England. However, Shami hasn’t been named in the squad for the first two Tests against England, and new reports reveal that the veteran pacer will miss the entire series.
Shami, who has been out of the national team since the ODI World Cup 2023, where he finished as the highest wicket-taker, sustained an ankle injury at the marquee event. However, he was ruled out of the South Africa Test series after failing to recover in time, and he hasn’t been named for the first two Tests against England. As per a report, Shami will be leaving for London to consult an expert. He is likely to be accompanied by NCA Sports Science Head Nitin Patel.
With this, the veteran, who plays for the Gujarat Titans in the Indian Premier League, might miss the cash-rich league. However, there hasn’t been any official update around it, and with the T20 league just around the corner, the unconfirmed status of the injury might cause some concern for the Gujarat Titans.
Shami, who had a year to remember in 2023, not only finished as the top wicket-taker in the World Cup at home but also finished as GT’s leading wicket-taker in IPL 2023. He had 28 scalps to his name from 17 matches and claimed the Purple Cap.
