Is a switch back to No. 3 damaging for Virat Kohli's confidence? Ashwin provides a clear answer

The premium batsman of team India, Virat Kohli, has yet to fire at the T20 World Cup, raising concerns about his form. Despite a record-breaking IPL season, Kohli has managed just 5 runs in 3 outings. This has sparked debate about India’s batting order, with veteran spinner Ravichandran Ashwin offering a fiery take.
With Virat Kohli struggling as an opener, Ravichandran Ashwin suggests a change. Ashwin said on his YouTube channel, “India can promote Rishabh Pant or even include Yashasvi Jaiswal.” This would allow Kohli to return to his preferred number 3 position.
“There’s no way a player like Virat Kohli loses confidence,” Ravichandran Ashwin declared. “He’ll say, ‘You dropped me down? I’ll show you what I can do!’ That’s the kind of fighter he is. I know him well.”
The struggles of Virat are all the more surprising after his dominant IPL campaign, where he amassed 741 runs. He even suffered a rare golden duck in his last World Cup outing. This has also impacted the race for the all-time leading run-scorer in T20 World Cups. Pakistan’s Babar Azam currently holds the top spot, while Virat Kohli needs just 104 runs to reclaim it.
