With the ICC T20 World Cup 2024 co-hosted by the USA and the Caribbean fast approaching, the India cricket team is finalizing its squad. Now, India Cricket Team captain Rohit Sharma has name-dropped names of MS Dhoni and Dinesh Karthik for the inclusion in potential T20 World Cup 2024 squad.
The crucial decision for India squad is the wicketkeeper’s position. MS Dhoni, who retired from international cricket in 2020, has been a topic of playful speculation.
legendary Australian wicketkeeper Adam Gilchrist jokingly suggested MS Dhoni and Dinesh Karthik as potential options for the World Cup. While Rohit Sharma acknowledged Dhoni’s recent exploits in the IPL, he humorously pointed out the logistical challenges of convincing the former captain to play in the West Indies.
Rohit Sharma said on the podcast: “Yeah, I was quite impressed. Quite impressed, you know, especially with Dinesh, the way he batted a couple of nights back. And Dhoni as well. I mean, look, he came to play four balls, made a huge impact, got those 20-22 runs. And that was eventually the difference in the end.
And look, it will be hard to convince MSD for sure to come to the West Indies, I guess. He is sick and tired. He is coming to the US though to do something else. He is into golf now. So, he is coming to play golf, I guess. Yeah. And then, yeah, DK will be easy to convince, I guess.”
