Jason Gillespie Pak, Head Coach, hopes the team's ‘identity will sort itself out’ soon

The head coach of Pakistan cricket team, Jason Gillespie, admitted that the side’s issues cannot be resolved immediately. His remarks come ahead of his first assignment as coach—the PAK vs. BAN series, which will begin on August 21. The former Australian pacer believes that the team’s identity will sort itself out and that it was a process to figure out how the team wanted to play going forward.
As per the report, Gillespie said that Pakistan has all the bases covered in terms of bowling and that the team needs to be flexible and adaptable. The head coach also lamented about the lack of Tests played by Pakistan, noting that other big nations, including India and England, played at least 10-15 Tests in a year.
Gillespie said, “The identity will sort itself out. I don’t think that will be resolved right now. It will be a process to figure out exactly what surfaces we want to play on going forward.”
“We need more Test cricket. We play a lot of domestic cricket, so I don’t think we can blame that. We do play 10 first-class matches minimum, and with the introduction of departmental cricket, some players ended up playing 16-17 first-class matches in a year,” Gillespie added.
