BCCI Secretary Jay Shah has confirmed that ace pacer Mohammed Shami will miss the ICC T20 World Cup. Shami is currently recovering from his ankle injury and will also miss IPL 2024. It is reported that the speedster is targeting a comeback for the IND vs. BAN Test series.
BCCI Secretary Jay Shah, while talking, said, “Shami surgery is done; he is back in India. Shami’s return is likely for the home series against Bangladesh. KL Rahul needed an injection; he has started rehab and is at the NCA.”
He further gave an update about Pant, his fitness, and the chance of him returning to the India cricket team at the 2024 T20 World Cup.
“He is batting well; he is keeping well. We will declare him fit very soon. If he can play in the T20 World Cup for us, that will be a big thing for us. He is a big asset for us.“
Shami not only missed the India tour of South Africa, he also missed the five-test series against England. And with a long time needed for recovery after surgery, Shami will also miss the IPL.
