Shah has officially assumed the role of Chairman of the International Cricket Council (ICC) as of December 1, 2024, succeeding Greg Barclay. His tenure comes after resolving the contentious ICC Champions Trophy dispute between the BCCI and PCB, with the PCB agreeing to a hybrid model in exchange for a higher revenue share.
In his inaugural address, Shah expressed his honor at taking on this position and outlined his key priorities, notably enhancing women’s cricket and leveraging cricket’s inclusion in the Los Angeles 2028 Olympics. He emphasized the sport’s global potential and the need for inclusivity and engagement among fans.
Shah brings extensive experience to the role, having previously served as the youngest Secretary of the BCCI and as President of the Asian Cricket Council. He acknowledged Barclay’s contributions during his tenure and expressed eagerness to collaborate with ICC member countries to elevate cricket on a global scale.
