Jofra Archer Travels with England to India: Is He Playing in the World Cup 2023?

There is no doubt that Jofra Archer is one of the most exciting bowlers in the World Cup, and he played an important role for England in the World Cup 2019. Since then, injuries have plagued the 28-year-old’s career, but he has traveled to India with the England squad for the upcoming tournament.
The Sussex seamer isn’t in the squad of Jos Buttler, but that doesn’t mean he won’t play a part for England at this Cricket World Cup in 2023. Archer has been selected as a reserve option for England in India, which means he isn’t part of the 15-man squad, but he can train with the team. He hasn’t bowled since March due to an elbow injury but is slowly building up his workload.
Traveling as a reserve means he can only play if one of the 15-man squad is unable to participate for whatever reason. Plus, any move has to be approved by England’s medical team and the World Cup technical committee.
But despite this, selector Luke Wright has hinted that Archer could play some part later on in the tournament.
He said, “The best thing for Jofra is to travel with the team, keep working on his rehab, and be around the physios and the team. We are doing all we can to get him ready to be as good as he can be.
He further said that, “If there was an injury, he might be able to be replaced at the back end of the tournament, but obviously, we are still working on his fitness day-by-day, and we’ll have to keep accessing that.”
