Captain Shakib Al Hasan scored 40 off 51 balls, then forged a partnership of 96 runs for the fifth wicket, with his seasoned teammate Mushfiqur Rahim scoring 66 off 75 as Bangladesh moved to 156 in the 30th over when Ferguson sent back the former to pick up his third wicket. Matt Henry then took the wicket of Mushfiqur to close in on Bangladesh's tail. Mahmudullah made an invaluable unbeaten score of 41 runs towards the end.
New Zealand has won three out of three matches, and they top the table with six points and a net run rate of 1.6 as the tournament moves onto the third “round”. Bangladesh hovers just below England with just one win; they’re going to have to topple some giants to get into the quarterfinals.
