KL Rahul opens up on ‘funny’ wicketkeeping conversations with Head Coach of Team India Rahul Dravid

The wicketkeeper-batter of Team India KL Rahul has quite a few things in common with Indian head coach Rahul Dravid. Both share a common name, both hail from Karnataka, and both assumed the wicketkeeper’s role after initially joining the team as a pure batter. On Saturday, a video of a conversation between KL Rahul and sports show host Mayanti Langer was released. KL Rahul was asked about the conversations he has with Rahul Dravid regarding wicketkeeping.
Wicketkeeping is a thankless job, and it takes immense stamina to be able to keep for a whole day and then go out to bat. This pain is felt much more by wicketkeepers who open the innings. After keeping for 50 overs, the opening batter is expected to come out all guns blazing with just a 45-minute rest period. KL Rahul once again highlighted the pains a wicketkeeper goes through in the recent conversation.
On being asked about the kind of conversations he has with Indian coach Rahul Dravid, KL Rahul said, “Our conversations about wicketkeeping are quite funny. The only thing we talk about is how much your back hurts and how tired you get when you’ve kept 50 overs and then you have to go and bat. So mostly the conversations are about how to manage your energy and manage your body.”
