Matheesha Pathirana from CSK was declared fit but has yet to receive the NOC

After days of uncertainty due to injury, the pacer of Sri Lanka and CSK, MatheeshaPathirana, has been declared fit to take part in the IPL 2024, starting Friday, at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai. His manager shared an update on X, stating Pathirana is fit. “The answer to ‘Where’s Pathirana’. He is fit and ready to throw thunder balls. Be ready. Finally, together with the legend,” the manager wrote.
The CSK recruit had suffered a hamstring injury during the Sri Lanka T20I series against Bangladesh. But it is still not clear when the bowler will join the team since he’s yet to receive an NOC from the Sri Lanka cricket board. It was also reported that he is likely to miss the first 2–3 matches for the team.
CSK play their first match on March 22 against RCB, and Pathirana won’t be around. Last year, he emerged as their main wicket-taker, bagging 19 wickets in 12 encounters. Having said that, the team has a replacement in the form of Bangladesh’s Mustafizur Rahman, who can be a wicket-taking option too.
