Michael Vaughan criticises the ECB for recalling players from the IPL playoffs before the T20 World Cup

Michael Vaughan said that playing in the Indian Premier League playoff would have served as better preparation for the players of Team England than playing Pakistan at home.
All English players selected to play for England in the T20 World Cup 2024 left their respective IPL franchises to play a 4-match T20I series against Pakistan ahead of the global event.
England players leaving India to play the Pakistan series before the IPL playoffs may have made the England Cricket Board happy, but former English cricketer Michael Vaughan feels the IPL playoffs would have prepared the players for the T20 World Cup better.
Vaughan said in the ‘Club Prairie Fire’ podcast, “England missed a trick by not letting Jacks, Salt, and Buttler play in the IPL playoffs. Pressure, crowd, expectations—it would’ve been better preparation than playing a T20 game against Pakistan.”
The ECB released a statement a few days ago and asked the English players selected for the T20 World Cup to join the team for the series against Pakistan. ECB’s stance drew a lot of criticism from some Indian legends, some of whom claimed that money should be docked off players who don’t stay for the entirety of the IPL.
