MS Dhoni keen to enjoy remaining years confirms playing in IPL 2025

With just days before the IPL 2025 Retention Deadline, former India and Chennai Super Kings (CSK) captain MS Dhoni has shared insights about his future in cricket. Dhoni, who led CSK to several IPL titles, stated that he aims to enjoy his final years in the sport before retiring. He expressed his desire to savor the remaining moments of his cricketing journey, acknowledging the challenge of finding joy in professional sports amid commitments and expectations.

“I just want to enjoy whatever last few years of cricket I am able to play. When you play cricket like a professional sport, it becomes difficult to enjoy it just like a game. That’s what I want to do. It’s not easy. The emotions keep coming, the commitments are there. I want to enjoy the game for the next few years,” said Dhoni.

Dhoni also said, “I have to keep myself fit for nine months, so that I can play two and a half months of IPL. You need to plan it out, but at the same time chill a bit.”

It is widely expected that CSK will retain Dhoni for IPL 2025, with no plans to let him go to the IPL Mega Auction. Former cricketer Harbhajan Singh even suggested that Dhoni should be CSK’s top pick, but reports suggest Dhoni might be retained as an uncapped player.
