In a thrilling finale of the Big Cricket League (BCL) 2024, the Mumbai Marines, led by Irfan Pathan, triumphed over the Southern Spartans by 7 wickets, securing the championship trophy on December 22, 2024. Chasing a challenging target of 211 runs, the Marines achieved victory with five balls to spare.
Manan Sharma was the standout performer, scoring a blistering 89 runs off just 45 balls. His innings was complemented by captain Irfan Pathan’s quickfire 27 off 18 deliveries. The Southern Spartans had batted first, with Solomon Mire leading their charge with a commendable 78 runs. Suresh Raina also made a significant contribution with 51 runs, while Fazal and Abhimanyu Mithun added useful runs to set a formidable total of 210.

Despite an early struggle for the Mumbai Marines’ openers, Sharma’s explosive knock alongside Jesal Karia’s impressive 75 turned the match in their favor. Although Sakuja attempted to disrupt their momentum with some tight bowling, the Marines crossed the finish line successfully.
The inaugural season of BCL kicked off on December 12, featuring six competitive teams and culminating in this spectacular finale that showcased the Mumbai Marines’ dominance throughout the tournament.
